BIOGRAPHY
John T. Donovan
John T. Donovan was born Sept. 9, 1915 in New York City, son John Thomas and Mary Frances Killian Donovan. He had one brother James. In Rye his family lived at
260 Purchase Street
and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
John enlisted March 24, 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in the U.S serving as a Master Sergeant training soldiers. John was honorably discharged on May 24, 1946.
He married Clara Cavalea on August 16, 1948. The ceremony was performed at the Church of Our Lady of Mercy by the Rev David Hordern.
A Rye resident for many years, He was employed as a sales manager with Appliance and Kitchen Centers, Inc. of Darien.
A graduate of Rye High School, he was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and the Rye Golf Club. He was one of the organizers of the Limerick Golf Tournament in Rye and a veteran of World War II.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Church of the Resurrection for John Thomas Donovan of 5 Fairlawn Street, who died Friday June 1, 1976 at Stamford Hospital. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Clara Cavalea Donovan of the home address, a daughter, Mrs. Charles Morgan of Rye, a son, John Thomas Jr., of New Rochelle, a granddaughter, and a brother James Patrick of Purchase.
